What is an Electric Bike (e-bike)?An electric bicycle (e-bike, eBike, etc.) is a motorized bicycle with an integrated electric motor used to assist propulsion. There are 2 broad categories of e-bikes: bikes that assist the rider's pedal-power (i.e. pedelecs) and bikes that add a throttle, integrating moped-style functionality. We offer Addmotor e-bikes, which are composed of both the pedal-assist and the throttle.
-
Can I ride an e-bike like a regular bike?If you can ride a regular bike, you can ride an e-bike. The pedal assist (PAS) is adjustable and increases your power. The throttle increases your speed. Addmotor’s have a safety throttle, allowing you to turn on/off. If you want a good workout, decrease the PAS to 0 or 1!
-
How far does the e-bike go before needing to recharge the battery?According to the manufacturer, the Addmotor 500W motor & UL certified battery has a range of up to 120+ miles when cycling in lower PAS mode. The distance you travel on a fully charged battery decreases as you pedal less. If you use the throttle 100% of the time, the range is around 40 miles. Other factors may apply to the longevity of the battery.
-
How fast do e-bikes go?The Addmotor e-bikes in our fleet go up to a speed of 20 mph with the pedal assist (PAS) and throttle.
-
How long does it take to charge an e-bike?Addmotor e-bike batteries can be fully charged in 3-6 hours. (check site) Please have the e-bike charged to a minimum of 25%, at time of pickup.

You can ride e-bikes on marked bike lanes and roads. The city restricts e-bikes on all beaches. In addition, salt water and sand will damage the motor.
